Pope Leo XIV stated to parents: “Baptizing one’s children is as essential as providing them with food and clothing.” “Baptism accompanies us forever,” he said. “In moments of darkness, Baptism is light; in life’s conflicts, it is reconciliation; at the hour of death, it is the gateway to heaven.:
Infant Baptism under the age of 7
Requirements for the Sacrament:
- Baby or child, maximum 6 years of age
- Parents will be required to attend a baptism class
- At least one Godparent is to be Catholic and has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist & Confirmation
- If the Catholic Godparent belongs to another parish, a sponsor certificate is needed. They are to call their home parish and let them know they have been asked to be a Godparent and their parish will send us verification of good standing.
- The Sacrament of Baptism is held on the second and fourth Sunday of the month following the 10 AM Mass at Holy Savior Church. There may be more that one family present.
- If you are not a registered member of St. Mary Star of the Sea/Holy Savior Parish, you must obtain a letter from your pastor requesting permission to have your child Baptized at our parish.

Child Baptism (age 7 or older)
For children over seven years of age, a meeting with the family is required to decide what will be needed to catechize that child. This may require attending religious education classes for a year prior to Baptism. Adult Baptism
If you are an adult and are either thinking about becoming a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church, or if you were raised Catholic and received some of the Sacraments and wish to complete your initiation, please refer to the O.C.I.A. tab and complete the inquiry form.
